Ian Watkins from radio 2XS would often advertise these parties and we would get 2 to 300 turn up en masse . We had a huge lounge with four speakers and 2 more in the wide hallway powered by an overworked akai stereo. Those parties were pretty regular until the clubs came along tooPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18058826049735362362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4283161081401583347.post-19906751421198671012022-02-14T01:06:10.745+13:002022-02-14T01:06:10.745+13:00U were probs serving me drinks then dude as I was ...U were probs serving me drinks then dude as I was usually parked up next to the sound desk before I brought my decks in and played the vinyl between band setsPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18058826049735362362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4283161081401583347.post-80797931067418957562022-02-14T01:03:50.898+13:002022-02-14T01:03:50.898+13:00Scotty was my best mate through much of this. I was a snatch groupie at the cloverleaf for many years getting to know the band well. When they moved to the Ritz I became the resident DJ there until my old flatmate and friend Scott bullock took over. I then did a stint at the cheesy Ceasars aka southern Cross before returning to the same venue as the totally rebuilt Madison's where I was resident DJ for 5 years. I remember $1 door $1 drinks on a Thursday night. We would have 5 or 600 in by 10pm and go through 20 to 25 kegs of beer! Defs wasn't the hippest of palmy DJs but sure pulled in a huge crowd for the whole time I was there. Appreciated the the story mate.
